Hospitals

Hospital Security is an essential frontline service. They protect patients being treated for Mental Health and the staff treating the. At times, these patients are in need protection from themselves, to be protected from certain visitors, and to be kept away from harming others. The majority of security work at a Hospital, is spending time in the ER (emergency room) or Psychward with patients, staff, and public. When not in either of the two main places, then perform other duties. They patrol the hallways, check utilities, lock and unlock doors, monitor the cameras, and assist when hospital codes are called. The primary code security responds to is a Code White – which is a violent patient / person – this is their top priority response. They are, however, also required to respond to other codes, such as Code Red or Code Green for example. To conduct crowd control and carry-out evacuation plans, by guiding everyone safely to the nearest available emergency exit.

Our Security Agents undergo extensive Healthcare related training, which includes but is not limited to: Code White (CPI), mechanical restraints, fire emergencies, reporting maintenance issues, checking utility room(s) (such electricity, oxygen, gaslines, etc.), escorting patient transfers, expelling unwanted visitors, top-level customer service, how to properly use hospital PPE in various emergency scenarios, identifying and removing / reporting hazards, assisting police on-site with patients / general public, and assisting medical staff when appropriate or when asked. The Health & Safety of patients, staff, and the general public; is our utmost concern and highest responsibility.

We provide security services to local hospitals within the Grey-Bruce Peninsula. Our Healthcare response teams are unmatched in their abilities and experience. Some are ex-Nurses or ex-PSW’s having extensive experience, with violence in a Healthcare environment. Others are in school for related jobs within the Healthcare system. Though primarily, having extensive histories in working the security industry in general.

Other Healthcare Facilities

While Hospitals are the fundamental aspect of the Healthcare industry, there are also other peripheral Healthcare institutions and facilities which – at times – require a security presence, for various reasons, as the situation arises.

Namely, Long-Term Care Homes, is one of our subspecialties of Healthcare Security. There are times when “residents” become agitated, confused, or have some form of Mental Health issue. The elderly, disabled, children, and the mentally unstable, are the most vulnerable people in our society. These residents require sensitive care and understanding. This type of job is not suitable for most employed in the security industry. Hence, we provide special training aside from the basic requirements, to train these Healthcare Support Agents in several particular aspects of Healthcare. This includes although not limited to: sensitivity training, Code White, reporting medical emergencies, reporting violence, non-contact intervention, and how to appropriately and assuredly deal with dementia.
